The house is attractive, comfortable and recently redecorated throughout. It is located about 5Kms. from Huelgoat and situated on the edge of the historic hamlet of St. Herbot whose famous and beautiful church is dedicated to the patron saint of horned animals. The house is detached and surrounded by huge enclosed gardens, an orchard and woodland, providing acres of open space for safe games playing. It is partly constructed of granite and is very light and airy. It is also very cosy, with Oil fired central heating with radiators in every room, making especially snug in winter time.

The Accommodation:

The house is arranged on two floors. The Ground floor is available for rent.

French doors lead to the ground floor accommodation. This opens into a light and bright Lounge.

Lounge with large sofa and full size TV with Satelite, DVD Player, CD Player. French Doors overlooking the garden.

Dinning Room/Kitchen is fully equipped, with full Electric fan assisted oven & hob, Fridge, Combination Microwave, Toaster, Kettle etc. There are also a range of Base units well equipped with all the utensils you will need for a pleasant holiday.

Bedroom 1. Double Bed with Bedside Cabinets,Chestdrawers & Wardrobe.

Bedroom 2. Twin Room with Bedside Cabinets, Chestdrawers & Wardrobe.

Bathroom. Comprising Bath with Shower attachement, WC. Hand Basin & Washing Machine.

The Owners live on the first floor.

Dining room has a large pine table and six chairs.

Duvets and pillows are supplied. Please bring your own bed linen and towels.

The Grounds:

Situated in a valley surrounded by forests and streams, the house is a paradise for songbirds. The large private gardens are perfect for playing games, from football to Frisbee, or boules to badminton. There is a wooden tree swing and a large wooden picnic table. Two mountain streams and woodland border the gardens and provide endless opportunities for adventurous kids to explore. The streams are not protected for toddlers, but are a long way from the house. There is plenty of parking space in front of the house and lots of room for kids to pitch tents.

Around St. Herbot:

St. Herbot is in the centre of Finistère and is within very easy reach of some pretty towns and villages (Pleyben, Châteaulin, Huelgoat, Landerneau), interesting cities (Quimper, Morlaix, Brest), brilliant seaside towns (Carantec, Loquirec, Camaret, Benodet, Concarneau, Roscoff), and some of the prettiest landscapes, beaches and islands of Brittany (Crozon peninsula, Baie de Douarnenez, Isle de Batz). St. Herbot is also only a short drive from the tranquil Nantes-Brest Canal and the wooded Lake Guerledan (windsurfing, rowing and motor boats).

Oceanopolis in Brest (one of Europe's largest and finest aquariums) is well worth a visit, even if only to see the penguins and seals! Brest is also good for shopping. The Brittany Museum and Museum of Fine Arts in Quimper are superb.

At around 5Kms. from St. Herbot, Huelgoat is the nearest town. It has a range of bars, creperies and restaurants, doctors, pharmacies, charcuteries, boulangeries, a gendarmerie, newspaper shops (with British papers), supermarkets and petrol stations. It is a pretty town with a lovely market square and large lake, and is famous for its giant granite boulders and woodlands. The town has a well-known botanic garden, a centre for local honey, swimming pool and tennis courts, and often hosts art exhibitions. Market day is Thursday.

Throughout the year, but particularly in the summer months, many of the villages in central Brittany have Fest Deiz (daytime) or Fest Noz (evening) festivities in which a large number of Breton villagers participate to the full! These cultural events always include traditional music and dancing, local cider and food, and are very colourful, interesting and great fun.

Getting there:

St. Herbot is not far from any of the main ports and airports that serve northern and western Brittany. Roscoff (Brittany Ferries) is approximately 45 mins. driving time; St. Malo (Brittany Ferries and Condor) 2 hrs. 15 mins.; Caen (Brittany Ferries and P&O) 4 hrs.; Brest airport 50 mins.; Dinard airport 2 hrs.; Rennes airport 2 hr. 15 mins.; Nantes airport 3 hrs. On the fast TGV train line to Paris are Morlaix (25 mins. to St. Herbot), Brest (1 hr.) and Quimper (50 mins.).
